Installing Windows Vista.

Windows Vista uses the interactive Setup application which is a full fledged installer for Vista. This application allows the easy, fast , and interactive installation of Vista.

First, to install Windows Vista do the following:

1. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in your CD drive and then reboot. After
BIOS screen flashes by, you may be prompted to press a key to boot from the

CD. Otherwise wait for somtime so that the system will automatically boot from the CD.Now you can see a black screen saying, “windows is loading the files……..”

2.It take some time and after that you can see another screen where you have to enter the settings for Language, Time format, Currency format, Keyboard layout etc. Then press “Next”.

3.. This is the step from which the real installation takes place. In this screen you just have to press the “Install now” button.

4. This is a “complex ” step. Here, enter your Windows Vista product key. The product key is a 25 digit alphanumeric key. You can see this key ,a yellow sticker,on the CD. You can also select the Automatic Activation option so that vista will be activated automatically.

5. Now press the Next button and you can see the screen containing the license agreement. Read the agreement carefully and check the accept checkbox to proceed to the next step.
6. Here you have to partition your hard drive. Then decide the partition in which you need to install vista. Click on the “Drive Options” where you can perform things like resizing,formating, deleting, creating new partitions etc.

7.After formatting the drive where you need to install Vista, click on the “Next” button and the installer starts copying new files and installing Vista. This may take some time. After these steps are completed the system will restart.

8.Now, in this step you have to enter a Username and password to set up a user account. Enter a username and a password.

This is the only account having administrative privileges. All other accounts that you create later do not have this privilege.

9.Press the “Next” button and in this screen enter the name of your system and then chose a background image.

10.In the next step you can turn on or turn off automatic updates.

11.Here we can set the Date, Time, and Time zone…

12.Now click the “Next” button and you got a message that ‘You are ready to start’.

Before the desktop appears the OS does a performance test to adjust it’s configurations based on the performance test results. And now you are can use Vista as it is successfully installed in your PC.
